"No Weapon"

10/28/2022

I was told this week, "if you are doing good, people will talk."

I have come to the conclusion, it is not always good.

When did we become the American's, the family, that talked down on our brothers and sisters for no reason? Isaiah 54:17 says "No weapons formed against me shall prosper." Words are also weapons. We have the power to make or break someone with the words that come out of our mouth's. Why would we choose to break anyone? Because they harmed us? FORGIVE! Because you don't like the way they look? PETTY! Because they are doing good in their life? BLESSINGS!

God Blesses those that serve Him.

We also have the power of prayer with our tongue. Instead of talking down on someone, pray for them.

If someone is sick, pray for them. If someone is hurting, pray for them. Don't spread their hurt and sickness through gossip chains, talk it over with God.

We are so blessed to have such great friends and family. But we all need a little encouragement.

This week as you pray, remember a good friend of ours, Alan. God has blessed him the past 2 weeks. Triple bypass, cancer finding, but God has him in the palm of his hand. We pray for healing, in Jesus name. We pray for the hurting, in Jesus name. We pray for the sick, in Jesus name.

Pray, don't gossip. Remember, no weapon formed against us shall prosper.

Maintenance

10/21/2022

What a whirlwind it has been. We have been blessed this hay season and give God all the glory. That isn't to say that it's been easy, but we have made it through. We are currently on our last week in the field, just in time for the real work to begin, Maintenance. Preparing our equipment for the next adventure, you never know what my husband may have up his sleeve. Repairs to be made and cleaning to be done. No matter what age, young or old, repairs always need to be made, that includes humans too. Many do not know but according to the CDC, suicide rates in agriculture workers are worse than almost any other sector. It's important that we not let our work overtake our mental health. Take time and talk with someone. If you know someone that is hurting and needs help, please contact your local authorities. People are leaving this world everyday and this may be a situation that we can prevent. The media has painted the Farmer as the enemy, but we are only trying to do our job.

The next time you eat, thank a farmer. The next time you get dressed, thank a farmer. Without the farmer, where would we be...

Change

June 2, 2022

The definition of change, is to make (someone or something) different; alter or modify. Farmers are sometimes afraid of change. We like to do what we have always done. If it ain't broke, don’t fix it, is our motto. Here at Blackmore Family Farms we have done a lot of changing in the past year. Was it scary? Yes, it still is. How do you know what to expect? We don’t, we take each day as it comes.

We have branched our hay business out dramatically. As I sit in the field and count, 1 sprayer, 2 sprayers… 1 tractor, 2 tractors… 5… I can’t believe how much we have grown. If it were up to me, I would have been fine the way everything was going, as for my husband, he had dreams. God blessed me with a spouse; he blessed me with the head of our household. My husband’s dreams soon became mine. Look where we are today.

Change is scary, change is different but with an open mind, change can take you to the next level.

Lesson's to last a life time

May 10, 2022

Tractor riding, Saturdays. Pig chasing, Sundays. Chicken catching, Mondays & Hay baling, Tuesdays. No matter the day, there is always something to do.

In order to know a value of a dollar, you have to work for it and we pride ourselves in showing our little boy, how to make that dollar.

Sun up until sun down, Farmers are constantly working.

Looking out of a tractor window, or getting liter out of your hair, these are memories that will last a life time.

First, Coffee...

April 29, 2022

Have you ever woke up and before your feet hit the floor, you had to answer a question? Or, answer a phone call? But first, Coffee…

I am not a morning person, I know, the people that are reading this, cannot imagine me being anything but delightful. Just ask my husband.

Our whole lives, my husband and myself have had something to do with farming. Me…From early morning cow feeding as a child to gardening as a teen. Him…From row cropping to pigs, his whole life. Since 2016, we have been farming together. Since day one, our phones have not stopped ringing. We are so blessed, but occasionally, we have to say NO, let me call you back after I drink my coffee.

No, one of the hardest words in the English language, but sometimes, you just have to say it. To family, friends, neighbors and even our spouse, there is no other way around it. It is better to say no, than to later regret. As a parent, no has become easier to say. As American’s, I think we all need to say this word more often. Say No, to the extra time at work that can wait until tomorrow. Say No, to the last minute meeting. Say Yes, to your child’s baseball game. Say Yes, to the spare of the moment vacation with your family. We never know when tomorrow will be our last. Before saying yes or no, take a break, think it through and drink you a cup of coffee.

When Life Throws you Lemons

April 22, 2022

We have often heard the saying, “when life throws you lemons, make lemonade.” As humans, do we adhere to this saying? Often, we give up, see the bad in everything and speak bad words towards the person who handed us the lemons. But life has a way of changing those lemons into lemonade. I would lie if I said that you were never going to be given those lemons, but instead of giving up, I ask you to press forward and make the lemonade.

Life gets busy, it is important to step back, spend time with your family and look at your situation in a new perspective. With our busy season coming soon, we did just that this week. Took time to get away with family, compared our lemons and discussed how we would make our lemonade.

The next time you see a lemon, give it a squeeze and add some sugar… I promise, the outcoming will be so much better!!

A time for reflection, a time for renewal and a time for forgiveness.

April 13, 2022

This Sunday represents the day that our Lord and Savior rose from the grave. Coming back with the keys of death, hell and the grave in His hand, showing that He is the ONE in control.

Life throws us curve balls and sometime gives us an unfair hand, but we have to learn how to play the hand we are dealt.

Over 2000 years ago, Jesus was taken to the cross, to die for our sins, so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. This was a life He was dealt and He did what he needed to do for each of us to have a better life. The weight was on His shoulders but He did not grumble and complain, as we always do.

Because of His resurrection, we are able to have a comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help guide and direct our paths while we are on this earth. An advocate with the Father, so that we can ask for forgiveness anytime needed.

Blackmore Family Farms, a Christian owned and operated family business, encourages you to reflect on how good God has been to you this Easter season, take time to renew your mind, body and soul by asking God to forgive you of any sin you may have committed. Forgive others this season, for we have all sinned and fallen short. Remember, what you are going through today, could be your tomorrows victory.

Life is full of disappointments

April 8, 2022

This week has been a whirlwind. Selling chickens, pigs and hay… placing back pigs… I feel like life is passing by so fast. Things do not always go as expected and this week has proven that. Not all bad, some good, just not what was anticipated. Your heart is full of joy and at the same time full of disappointment. You feel like a success one day and a failure the next. It is hard to remember, but everyone goes through this. You will not always feel like a loser, a brighter day is ahead.

Sometimes we pray and our prayers are not answered the way we think they should be answered, I seen this, this week. God sees the whole picture, not the piece.

Philippians 4:6 KJV says “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

Remember, even through disappointments, a day at the farm is always better than a day at the office.

Friends for life

April 2,2022

I had the privilege this past week to attend a Women In Ag workshop with our Duplin County Schools, for young ladies in high schools. During this time I was able to hear many reasons for these young lady's to seek a career in the Ag industry. As I watched all the attendees  converse, I realized, once you have a friend in Ag, you have a friend for life. I have had the opportunity to meet many people in my life, through church, work, family, friends and Ag. As an adult, most of my friends, are in the Ag profession. These young men and women would help me, no matter what. In a world full of disappointment, a Ag professional, most of the time, is the most genuine friend you can have. Pick up a phone, they will help you, if they couldn't, they would find someone who could.

Choose Blackmore Family Farms and you will have a best friend forever!

A Little Dirt, Won't Hurt

March 25,2022

I have often heard it said “God uses the broken ones, to reach the broken ones.” You have to have been in a similar or difficult situation as the person you are talking to. If not, you can’t relate.

Is farming easy? No! Do we pray? All the time!

That’s why we can relate to people who have hard times, financially, mentally, physically and emotionally. Having a farming operation, large or small, is a headache. Anyone who tells you it's not, talk to his wife—

In order to be a good Farmer, you must first get your hands dirty. No matter the age, no matter the time, a little dirt never hurt. We have to start from ground zero. Prepare the land and Pray. Plant and Pray. Pray for rain. Pray for sunshine. Pray for a good crop, flock or turn.

Do you notice what we do, we pray!

Farming is a gamble you never know if it’s going to be a good year or a bad year. You put your faith in the Lord above and ask him to send you someone that has been in a similar situation. Someone that has gotten their hands dirty. Someone that can shed some light on your situation.

Surround yourself with good people, people that will lift you up, people that will encourage you and people that don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty.

God Created Eve

March 17,2022

Being a farmer’s wife doesn’t mean that you get to stay at home and cook for the “ranch hand” or “raise the youngin’s” like many movies show. We are just as important as the man on the tractor. When Adam was created, God saw that he needed a helpmate. Therefore, God created Eve. Adam needed Eve, Johnny needed June, Bonnie needed Clyde and a Farmer needs his wife. In my house, our farm is family ran. Our farm is overseen by God, and ran by a husband and a wife that agree on that decision.

Times have changed, the woman does have the right to speak up, the woman does have the right to say “no”, the woman does have the right to farm.

Thank you God for creating a helpmate for Adam, thank you God for keeping your promises and thank you God for the FarmHer.

The Truth

March 9,2022

I wish I had your money...

This is a statement that I have heard many times in the past 6 years. My reply, "I wish I had the money, you thought I had." Light bills, tax bills, fertilizer bills, repair bills, equipment payments, insurance.. that's just to name a few things that come into my office on a DAILY bases. What keeps me going? My husband and my child. The next time you see a farmer, please don't wish for their money, pray for their sanity.
